Body for Life - Day 17 - Fight the Scale Temptation
So it’s day 17 already. I just finished my lower body workout and the change is amazing. I have made a quantum leap in the weights I’m able to lift, especially in my lower body workouts.
The one thing that keeps bothering me is the scale. I’ve heard it a million times before already, yet I can not resist the temptation to go and weigh myself. It’s been almost 3 weeks and I have only lost 2.2 pounds.
These are the times when the doubt starts crawling in. I’ve been reading forum posts and I know that I’m not alone in this. A lot of people don’t see weight loss in the first few weeks of their challenge. So what can be done?
I will stick with the pictures to measure my progress… and… I will have faith in the program. I know that if I keep eating right and if I keep working out. There is no way I will not achieve my goals. It might not be in 12 weeks. But who cares? If I just improve myself every day. If I take another step towards achieving my goals… I will get there someday. There is no other possibility.
There is one other thing that I know for sure: “What would happen if I quit?”
If I quit I will most certainly not reach my goals… and I will probably fall back to my weight gaining habits.
I took my wife out to lunch in a fancy restaurant… It was tempting but I stuck with it and ate healthy. I can not describe the pride I felt walking out of the restaurant, knowing that I have not broken out of my way. If I keep behaving like a thin sports-minded person. I will become a thin sport-minded person.
So 17 days have passed in this first round of Body for Life program. The weight have not dropped much, but I’m still moving on the right path.
