Body for Life - Day 23 - Leg Cramps
Today I woke up with the worst leg cramps. It all started yesterday, I was starting week 4 on my first body for life challenge and thought it was time to diversify. I wanted to start using different machines in my gym to train different muscles.
The body gets used to everything, so by diversifying and trying different exercises, you keep it “alert” and “challenged” thus improving you progress.
So for the first time ever (in my life) I went to what we call the gynecologist machine. The one where you set the weights - spread your legs - and have to use your inner muscles to pull them together.
I was all nice and easy, and I was even surprised with myself at the amount of weight I was able to pull the first time ever using this machine. Well… I was even more surprised in the morning.
I got up and every action that involved spreading my legs even a bit was accompanied by sharp pain. (that includes walking and /or climbing stairs).
But today was my bfl hiit workout! What was I supposed to do? The thought of skipping the day did come across my mind, but I decided to go no matter what and if worst comes to worst - I’ll switch days and do my upper body workout instead.
To make a short story shorter - 2 minutes after climbing the elliptical trainer, I forgot about my leg cramps. I just started slowly, did my warm up , my stretching… and went back on the machine. The pain was almost gone and I could continue.
On the way home I noticed that my legs are still “cramped” but I knew it would pass before my next body for life lower workout. Tomorrow is my upper body workout so I’m not concerned at all.
2 short updates:
1. Three and half weeks had passed and I have only lost 2.5 pounds. I don’t care I’m gaining muscle and I knew I’m burning fat. I trust this program and I know it works. I’m not here for the 12 weeks - I’m here for the long run.
2. My sister in-law had a birthday party today (she’s 19) and I did not have any of the 3 cakes that were served on the table. (I did allow my self 2 bites “just to taste” how good they were)
If this changed lifestyle continues - I have no doubt that I’m the right path to getting the results I want, losing weight and having the body I’m dreaming of.
